The desire to learn to read must be stimulated by the experiences the child receives in his/her environment, and the exercises given try to: identify everyday objects and to note relationships between objects; to perceive and discriminate between sounds, in order that they can learn to listen; and to develop language concepts and increase his/her vocabulary to aid language development.

Phonic work is also provided at the end of the book and this should be taught along with the context. Like its predecessor, this book contains familiar characters and situations which are readily recognized and which will stimulate discussion and encourage the development of speech and comprehension skills.

The Way To Mathematics – Workbook 1 (age 4 plus)
The fact that the child can count from one to ten is no guarantee that he or she understands the meaning of these numbers. Hence the first ten must be shown in many ways so that the meaning of each can be fully grasped. The exercises in this book provide situations where the pupil can identify a group containing a given number of things, compare the size of two such groups (thus being introduced to the concept of the set), and practice at numeral recognition. Other exercises include joining sets (addition) and which sets are greater or less (subtraction).

The Way To Mathematics - Workbook 2 (age 5 plus)
This book provides additional exercises for the pupil to practise proper numeral recognition and counting, as well as further work in addition and subtraction. The child is introduced to counting up to 100, as well as to areas in everyday experience where counting is commonly used (such as money and time). The book ends with an introduction to the basics of multiplication. Revision exercises are also provided.
